Disclaimer

The extent of a water leak can be readily determined by using an infrared thermographic camera when the work is performed by a licensed building contractor at CMF. We publish a very useful application note on using Infrared Diagnostics as part of a mold remediation procedure. The note is called: Water Event Service Call using Infrared and can be downloaded from our web library. It also contains several compliance forms that you may find useful.

Infrared imaging can also be used to document the extent of a problem area to the insurance provider. As such it may be the only way to prove the extent of the problem in “discussions” that your attorney may have with the insurance company about the need for payment for the appropriate corrective actions.

Infrared is usually, far and away, the most effective method for finding small water leaks that have lead or will lead to indoor air quality problems

Mold will always start to grow inside the residence or office if indoor moisture levels are not controlled.

At CMF we use the latest infrared based technology to document moisture problems or the lack of moisture problems in homes and offices. Such work by CMF is performed by licensed and experienced building contractors. The image below clearly shows an area of moisture infiltration in a high ceiling of a residential structure where none is visible with the naked eye.

Infrared diagnostic procedures are often used in conjunction with micro-video inspection systems that let us see inside of walls, much like doctors can non-surgically visually check for internal problems by using a miniature video camera. And we use laser particle counters to check electrical sockets and around baseboards for “leaking” mold spores that may be a clue to a problem inside the wall. Please refer to our guide, Post-Construction: Protocols for Mold Growth Investigations for a detailed presentation of many of these procedures. This informative booklet may be downloaded free from our web site library page.
