Musty smells, headaches, or waking up irritated when onboard? 99% of the time this is due to microbial growth in the ducting and/or AC system. In a yacht, this is not easy to eliminate without ripping the walls and ceilings apart.
What about commercial duct cleaning? Unfortunately this is not a licensed activity for yachts. If done, work will include chemicals not approved by EPA/OSHA for use in ducting. This can result in sick people and lawsuits.
Instead, we successfully use Chlorine Dioxide gas to clean, deodorize, and sanitize the yacht's air, surfaces, and ducting. Gassing does not remove heavy mold, but it will kill surface mold as well as 100% of any Coronavirus on surfaces and in the air.
We recommend quarterly applications of Chlorine Dioxide through the AC ducting. It permeates everywhere, is non-corrosive, and leaves no residue. We also suggest an application 48 hours before an owner's visit. Cost is $500 per every 10 feet in length.
